Welcome to The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts

The Humanities is the study of literature, philosophy, art, and other disciplines as distinguished from the sciences. Reading and learning about the areas included in the humanities has long been part of the tradition of a college education. The arts and the humanities contribute to education by exploring human experience and helping us to both understand our experience and to express it through writing, speaking, and participating in the arts (creating physical works of art such as paintings, making music, or acting). Courses in literature, communication, theater, and music help us to interpret artistic works that exemplify beauty and have a universal intellectual or emotional appeal. History and philosophy familiarize us with past events and the ways that great thinkers have created coherent systems of understanding both the past and the present. Courses in foreign language provide us with the opportunity of perceiving the world from the perspective of a different language and culture.

Programs of study in the humanities and fine arts are excellent preparation for careers such as; Editing, Training & Development, Public Relations, Corporate Training, Broadcast or Print Media, Law, Historian, Publishing, Advertising, and Graphic Artist just to name a few.
