Learning a foreign language can offer many exciting professional opportunities, among them International Business, Law, Medicine, Teaching, Journalism, Social Work, Government, etc.

Although learning a language can be work, the efforts pay off quickly when you finally get to use it. Whether you enjoy talking, reading, or mastering challenges, you'll find all of them in learning languages. So, why wait?

The department offers courses in Spanish and French. The first two years (four courses) of each language are available if you need to fulfill a foreign language requirement or wish to continue the study of a foreign language begun in high school. The first course in first year Spanish or French (S101/F100) has no prerequisites and may be taken by any student with an interest in learning another language. The department also offers the Certificate in Latino Studies.
