Database Access Problems
How to access the Databases from Off-Campus computers
If you are off-campus, these are the steps necessary to access our databases:
- Go to http://www.iue.edu/academic/library/
- Click either the Databases--A to Z or Databases--subject link
- Provide your username and passphrase when prompted
- A list of Databases will appear for your use
Note: If you are accessing the Medweb databases, you will be asked for your username and passphrase a second time to use these resources.
Setting up a VPN connection
If you are still having trouble logging into the Campus Library databases, you may try setting up a VPN connection (Virtual Private Network connection), which will make your computer act like it is on campus. Please use the IU Knowledge Base resources:
- Setting up VPN on XP- http://kb.iu.edu/data/akko.html
- Setting up VPN on 2000 - http://kb.iu.edu/data/ajpv.html
- Setting up VPN on Windows 98 / 98SE - http://kb.iu.edu/data/ajrl.html
- Setting up VPN on Mac OS - http://kb.iu.edu/data/algk.html
Check your Cookies Settings
If you have problems logging into our databases you may have a "cookie" problem. Generally when "cookies" are a part of the error message it could mean that you have the security settings too high in your Internet browser. Cookies are affected by the browser settings for Privacy and/or Security options. There is an article in the IU Knowledge Base that discusses cookies and will help you change your browser settings.

How do I take a screen capture (Windows)?
- Hold the Command(apple key) and Shift keys and press "4"
- The file will automatically save to your desktop as something resembling "Picture1.png"
- Click "Browse..." in the form above to locate that file. When you submit the form it will upload it.
