Database Access Problems

How to access the Databases from Off-Campus computers

If you are off-campus, these are the steps necessary to access our databases:

  1. Go to http://www.iue.edu/academic/library/
  2. Click either the Databases--A to Z or Databases--subject link
  3. Provide your username and passphrase when prompted
  4. A list of Databases will appear for your use

Note: If you are accessing the Medweb databases, you will be asked for your username and passphrase a second time to use these resources.

Setting up a VPN connection

If you are still having trouble logging into the Campus Library databases, you may try setting up a VPN connection (Virtual Private Network connection), which will make your computer act like it is on campus. Please use the IU Knowledge Base resources:

Check your Cookies Settings

If you have problems logging into our databases you may have a "cookie" problem. Generally when "cookies" are a part of the error message it could mean that you have the security settings too high in your Internet browser. Cookies are affected by the browser settings for Privacy and/or Security options. There is an article in the IU Knowledge Base that discusses cookies and will help you change your browser settings.
