Reference Services
The Reference Desk is located at the Circulation Service Counter. If you need assistance ask the staff at the Circulation Desk and you will be directed to a librarian who can assist you.
The librarians are also available to help you with more in-depth reference assistance. Call 765-973-8311 or 765-973-8279 to schedule an appointment.
Interlibrary Loan Services
If you need a book that is not available at the IU East Campus Library, but is at another Indiana University Library, select REQUEST DELIVERY on the right side of the item screen within IUCAT. Be sure to select EAST as the campus where you want the book to be delivered. You will be notified through your IU email account when it is received.
For a copy of an article, or any book not available in IUCAT, please fill out the ILLiad form found here. This link is also available from the left-hand links on Library web pages. To create an account, click on “First time user” and fill out the form. You only need to fill this form out once. Then enter the article citation or book information in the form. Be sure to click on the “submit” button for each request. If you would like to request an article found in one of our databases, the best way to request it is to click on the
(SFX) button. Select ILLiad, and the information will be automatically filled out in the ILLiad request form.
All requests require that you follow the copyright guidelines. As an IU EAST/Ivy Tech student, staff or faculty member, you may borrow materials from libraries outside Indiana University without charge. Community patrons may also use the Campus Library's Interlibrary Loan services, although a fee may apply.
You will need to allow 7 to 10 working days for your request to be filled. You may check to see if the item has arrived by calling 765-973-8309 or by asking at the Circulation Desk. We will either call you or email you when your request has arrived. You will have 10 days to pick up items held for you at the Library's Circulation Desk. After that time, the item will be returned to the lending library.
Reserve Services
Materials are placed on reserve by instructors so that their students will have access to reading assignments for their classes.
All items that are physically on Reserve are listed in IUCAT. Choose "Reserves" from the Library's main page menu. You can search by Instructor, Course Number or Course Name. Instructors may also place articles on Electronic Reserves. These are available from the Electronic Reserves link to the left. You will be required to know you class' password. This is available from your instructor or the Library's Circulation Desk.
Reserve materials circulate for a limited amount of time, and there is a 60 cent per hour fine for late returns.
The New Castle-Henry County Public Library maintains reserves for IU East classes taught in New Castle and the Connersville Public Library maintains reserves for those IU East classes taught in Connersville.
