Biochemistry
Indiana University East offers six principal courses within the field of biochemistry and organic chemistry: General Organic Biochemistry (CHEM C108), Organic Chemistry Lectures I and II (CHEM C341/C342), Organic Chemistry Laboratories I and II (CHEM C343/C344), and Biological Chemistry (CHEM C483). In addition, students may pursue directed study in topics in biochemistry and organic chemistry in Special Topics in Chemistry (CHEM C390 - see schedule for topic) and Individual Study (CHEM C490). following consultation with, and approval by, the course director.

General Organic Biochemistry (CHEM C108) is currently offered yearly (see schedule), Organic Chemistry Lectures I (CHEM C341) and Laboratory I (CHEM C343) are offered alternate Fall Semesters beginning in 2006, Organic Chemistry Lectures II (CHEM C342) and Laboratory II (CHEM C344) are offered alternate Spring Semesters beginning in 2007, and Biological Chemistry (CHEM C483) is also currently offered alternate Spring Semesters beginning in Spring of 2007. Special Topics in Chemistry (CHEM C390) and Individual Study (CHEM C490) are both offered periodically. Please refer to the schedule for details of course offerings.
Courses in biochemistry and organic chemistry may be applied toward baccalaureate (4 year) degrees in biology. biotechnology, chemistry and the certificate in laboratory science offered through the School of Natural Science and Mathematics.
