ATTENTION ALL RETURNING NURSING STUDENTS:
You are required to complete an annual TB test, Certified Background.com check and renew your CPR certification. They must all three be dated between May 1 & August 1, 2008.
If you have been admitted to the IU East School of Nursing, you will receive an acceptance letter and an admissions packet by or before June 16.

ASN Program Suspension
Admission to the ASN program is suspended. Beginning fall 2007, we will focus on offering the BSN program, including the RN to BSN option.

News Release: Pinning Ceremony for IU East nursing graduates
May 5, 2008
RICHMOND, Ind. — The pinning ceremony for Indiana University East nursing graduates will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The annual ceremony for nursing students will be held at the Central United Methodist Church, located at 1425 E. Main Street in Richmond.
During the ceremony, 31 Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 21 Associate of Science in Nursing students will receive their pins. The baccalaureate pin is designed to represent the seal of the School of Nursing that was adopted in 1970 at the time of the 150th anniversary of Indiana University.
Graduates will receive their pin to wear for Commencement which will be held that night at 6 p.m. at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center. Also at this ceremony, nursing awards and achievements will be awarded to the students.
Indiana University East Commencement Ceremony
May 5, 2008
Janis Galusha of Richmond will address fellow classmates during the ceremony as the student speaker. Galusha will receive a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was selected to address the 2008 class after auditioning for the honor.

Curtis Bow Named NLN Ambassador to INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST NURSING SCHOOL
April 22, 2008 - Indiana University East is pleased to announce that Curtis Bow, MSN, APRN, BC, Lecturer in Nursing, has been appointed by the National League for Nursing to serve as an NLN Ambassador.
Curtis currently teaches at each level of the baccalaureate nursing program at IUE. He received his MSN from Ball State University in 2001 and is nationally certified as an adult nurse practitioner. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Curtis owns a private NP practice, Affordable Healthcare of East Central Indiana, Inc., in Muncie, Indiana and works in occupational health, urgent care and community health specializing in care of those with sexually transmitted infections.
As an NLN Ambassador, Curtis will encourage colleagues at Indiana University East to participate in NLN professional development programs; apply for research grants; submit abstracts for the annual Education Summit and manuscripts to the NLN's peer-reviewed journal, Nursing Education Perspectives; volunteer for task groups and special committees; run for elected office; nominate colleagues for awards; and complete research surveys.
Reid Hospital and Health Care Governing Board
Dr. Karen Clark, Dean of Nursing at IU East, has been re-appointed to a three year term on the Reid Hospital and Health Care Governing Board. She will continue to serve as the Board liaison to the Reid Quality committee and will serve on the Strategic Planning, Human Resources, and Community Benefits Committee of the Governing Board. Dr. Clark is enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve in this capacity. “This is an exciting time in the hospital’s history," Clark said. "We are setting the course to meet the needs of the community."
Indiana League for Nursing Board of Directors
Dr. Karen Clark has been re-elected to the Indiana League for Nursing Board of Directors for a two year term. Dr. Clark will chair the scholarship and awards committee. Michele Curry has been elected as a new member of the Indiana League for Nursing Board of Directors. Kim DeSantis has agreed to serve on this year’s ILN scholarship committee.
