B.A. in Communication Studies

If you’re interested in almost any career from law to education to medicine, IU East can prepare you for success.  A degree in Communication Studies is versatile and will help you develop interpersonal, public communication, cultural and teamwork skills which are the most important skills employers are looking for in the global age. If you're interested in a career focused on communication, you can prepare for a job as a political campaign manager, a book editor or a media critic, just to name a few. In addition, our degree prepares you well for graduate study.

The B.A. online completion program in Communication Studies consists of 60 credit hours (20 courses) to be offered over six academic terms/two calendar years.  Students are advised to follow the program plan below.

If any completion program requirements have already been met through transferable course equivalents, online alternatives may be selected in consultation with the assigned faculty advisor. No more than 64 credits can be accepted in transfer from 2-year institutions or community colleges.

It is recommended that the requirements below are met before beginning the online degree completion program.However, a student may elect to pursue the program even if this is not the case. A customized plan of study will be developed for the student to complete initial requirements if not previously completed.
