NSM Annual Review Committee Policy
Purpose
The NSM Annual Review Committee is a subcommittee of the FABA committee. The function of this committee is to consider the information in Faculty Annual Review reports and to make a summary evaluation of each faculty member's work for the year and recommendation for future direction.
Membership
The membership of this committee shall be selected from faculty members of FABA and other auxiliary members if necessary. The committee shall be comprised of three members to review the work of all faculty in the School. The committee shall elect its own Dean.
Reporting
Each faculty shall submit an annual review statement to this committee by the deadline set by the School. The members shall review the material in the Faculty Service Report, and any additional data that can be validated and prepare a summary report of two parts. One part shall be a summative statement about the past year's work. It shall include an evaluation of the quality of work and include a statement of: more than expected, as expected, or less than expected for each of the three categories upon which faculty are evaluated. The second part of the evaluation shall contain suggestions for the faculty person in the preparation of a long range plan.
One copy of this committee report shall go to the Dean as a formal recommendation and subsequently for inclusion into the faculty member's personnel file and the other to the faculty member. The report shall contain a place for the faculty person to sign indicating having read the report and a place for the faculty person to comment on the substance of the report. Based upon this report, the Dean shall prepare a supervisors report and make a merit recommendation.
Review of committee members
Members of this committee shall not evaluate their own progress. Three members of the committee (if necessary an auxiliary member shall be designated by the Long Range Planning Committee) shall evaluate committee members' work and report as above.
