Academic Calendars
The Indiana University East academic year is divided into three semesters/terms: Fall (August to December), Spring (January to May), and Summer (May to August). Review abbreviated academic calendars out through 2013 or scroll down to see a detailed listing of important dates and deadlines for Summer 2009, Fall 2009, and Spring 2010.
Fall 2009 Semester Important Dates
| July 27 | Fall fee statements available to students via OneStart.iu.edu ~ QuickPay. |

| Aug 21 | Fee Payment Due Date for students registering March 30 - August 21. After this date, fee payment is due at time of registration. |
| Aug 22 | Open 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. for registration activities at Richmond and New Castle sites. |
| Aug 29 | Open 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. for registration activities. Richmond site only. |
| Aug 31 | CLASSES BEGIN. |
| Aug 31 - Sept 5 | Late registration/schedule adjustment period. $17.00 late registration fee in effect. |
| Sept 5 | Last day to register, add courses, or change sections. Final date to drop courses or to totally withdraw with no grade recorded. From September 6 through November 4, grade of "W" will be recorded for all courses dropped. Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 100 percent refund. |
| Sept 7 | Labor Day Holiday. Campus closed. |
| Sept 11 | Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 75 percent refund. |
| Sept 18 | Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 50 percent refund. |
| Sept 25 | Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 25 percent refund. No refund after this date. |
| Oct 5 | Spring 2010 Schedule of Classes will be posted to the web at http://www.iue.edu/registrar/scheduleofclasses.php |
| Oct 20 | Second 7-week classes begin. |
| Nov 2 | Early registration for Spring 2010 begins for continuing students. |
| Nov 4 | Final date to drop courses or to totally withdraw from the University with an automatic "W". (Drops after this date must be approved by the instructor and academic dean.) |
| Nov 6 | Open registration for Spring 2010 begins. |
| Nov 15 | Deadline to Apply for Graduation (December graduates) |
| Nov 23-28 | Fall Break (no classes). Campus open Nov. 23, 24, 25. Campus closed Nov. 26-27. |
| Dec 14 | LAST DAY OF CLASSES. Deadline to withdraw w/instructor's grade of "W" or "F". |
| Dec 15-21 | Final examination period. |
| Dec 21 | Last day of final examinations. |
| Dec 23 | Deadline for faculty to have their grades posted in SIS. |

| Feb 1 | Deadline to apply for Spring 2010 graduation. |
| Feb 1 | Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 75 percent refund. |
| Feb 8 | Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 50 percent refund. |
| Feb 15 | Last day to drop courses or to totally withdraw with a 25 percent refund. No refund after this date. |

| May 4-10 | Final examination period. |
| May 10 | Last day of final examinations. |
| May 12 | Deadline for faculty to have their grades posted in SIS. |
