Supplemental Instruction Program (Summer I 2008 Schedule)
The Supplemental Instruction Program offers free academic assistance to students enrolled in challenging entry-level courses. Upper-level undergraduate students serve as Supplemental Instruction Leaders (SIs) to mentor and provide instructional support to students in these courses.
Unique Features of Supplemental Instruction (SI):
- SI is proactive. By identifying and targeting challenging courses, SI can help all students who wish to succeed in college.
- SI is integrative. SI teaches study skills within the context of the course material.
- SI fosters independent learning. Students learn how to apply effective learning strategies acquired in SI to other courses, increasing the likelihood of ongoing academic success.
