Praxis I Preparation

Education majors can take a simulated Praxis I, PPST (Pre-professional Skills Test) before they take the actual test which will give them an experience closely related to the PPST test and help them feel more comfortable when they take the actual test.  Approximate times for completion of the simulated tests are as follows:

      • reading—50 minutes
      • math—50 minutes
      • writing— 80 minutes.

Students do not have to take the whole test at one time; they may take any or all parts separately.

Students who want to prepare for the Praxis I may attend a series of workshops—one each in reading, writing, and math.  Each workshop includes:

      • an overview of the test
      • test taking tips and techniques
      • a brief content review and sample questions

In addition, Tutorial Services offers one-on-one tutoring for students who wish to build their skills in reading, writing and/or math.  Students may contact Eleni Siatra at 973-8575 or esiatra@indiana.edu for reading or writing or Neena Wilson at 973-8368 or neewilso@indiana.edu for math.
