Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program
The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program offers free academic assistance to students enrolled in challenging entry-level courses. Upper-level undergraduate students who have previously taken the course, been recommended by a faculty member, and trained by Tutorial Services serve as SI Leaders. SI Leaders attend all sessions with the students and then conduct three to five regularly scheduled study sessions each week.
Fall 2009 SI Schedule
Unique Features of Supplemental Instruction (SI):
- SI is proactive. By identifying and targeting challenging courses, SI can help all students who wish to succeed in college.
- SI teaches study skills within the context of the course material.
- SI fosters independent learning. Students learn how to apply effective learning strategies acquired in SI to other courses, increasing the likelihood of ongoing academic success.
