Indiana University East

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a social networking service to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

140 characters or less

With more content than a text message but less than a blog, this “micro-blog” service allows you to not only keep in touch with friends via cell phone or the Web, but also receive messages from IU East in a timely fashion.

What's IU East doing?

  • Follow IU East (@iueast) to find out what’s happening on campus.
  • Follow the Red Wolves (@iueredwolves) for scores and all the latest sports info.
  • Follow the Alumni Association (@iuealumni) to see how the IUEAA is connecting alumni and serving IU East.
  • Follow the chancellor!  Yes, Chancellor Nasser Paydar (@paydar) is on Twitter, too.

40404: The Magic Number

You can use your cell phone to get Twitter updates*. Text any of the boldfaced messages below to the number "40404" to follow those feeds.

  • IU East: follow iueast
  • Red Wolves Athletics: follow iueredwolves
  • Red Wolves scores only: follow iuescores
  • Alumni Association: follow iuealumni
  • Chancellor Nasser Paydar: follow paydar

* Standard text messaging rates apply. Please consult your service provider.

Example

If you want to follow the main iueast feed, you would open your cell phone, open a new text message, and for the phone number, type "40404". In the message body, type "follow iueast".

If this is your first time, you will get a response from Twitter that will walk you through the setup process. If you change your mind later, you can text "leave iueast" to stop following the iueast main feed, or "stop" to stop receiving all cell phone updates altogether.
